The Four Elms
The two-storey corner pub is painted in black and white and features a colourful display of hanging baskets. The open-plan bar area has a wood and red leather panelled counter and four gleaming chrome handpumps serve rotating cask ales from all over the UK. On the back fitting there are 3 chilled guest ciders which are constantly changing.
To the side of the bar is a dartboard, with the awards the teams have won.
A raised seating area in the former stables features a large, flat screen TV which is in HD as are all the TV’s here and is used for sporting events via 3 Sky boxes. Elsewhere there are old photographs of Cardiff, including one dating from 1897 which shows the four elm trees. Large mirrors with ornate golden frames help make the interior light.
The smoking area is at the rear and this leads into the garden which must be one of the biggest and best in the city.
Food is served noon to 2.30pm and 4.30pm to 9pm, including pasta, pizza, grills and children’s meals. There’s a Sunday carvery available noon to 5pm, pizza night on Thursdays, steak night Wednesdays and curry night Thursdays.
The pub has a skittle alley which has many old photos of Ninian Park and especially commissioned paintings of Cardiff City & Cardiff RFU legends which were removed from the Ninian pub when it changed its name.
